Amy daws sweeper5/22/2023 If you like romance, if you like sports or if you like a good read with real characters in real situations, this is a book for you. By alternating points of view between Zander and Daphney, Daws draws out her story tension to the breaking point where we feel like their coach as well, not in football but in their relationship. We feel what they feel, and we’re there with them every step of the way. She takes us into the world of elite football where we can smell the locker room.īeyond that, though, Daws makes Zander’s and Daphney’s inner conflicts real and convincing. For Daphney, it’s learning to trust Zander – something that’s nearly impossible given her previous relationship.ĭaws’ use of dialogue is, as the British would say, spot-on. For Zander, it’s needing to know who his real father is, a need that leads him to desperate measures when he unknowingly uses Daphney. Zander and Daphney have a lot of problems to work through before they can have a meaningful relationship.
